More dings in trade rumors

tommyb

The Denver Broncos have released backup QB Tom Brandstater. Brandstater, a sixth round draft pick in 2009, The Broncos now have three quarterbacks on their roster: Kyle Orton, Brady Quinn, and Tebow.

Brandstater’s release came as a surprise to some, since the 25-year-old quarterback impressed the team during the 2009 preseason and was eligible to be protected on the team’s practice squad. Broncos’ coach Josh McDaniels told The Denver Post the release so early in the 2010 preseason was to enable the other three quarterbacks to get more work in practice.

He will be put on waivers, making the sixth-round pick in the 2009 draft available to be claimed by any NFL team.

Also gone is offensive lineman Maurice Williams. Williams arrived less than a month ago.  He spent nine seasons with the Jaguars, starting all 16 games in 2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006.

Broncos signed free agent fullback Kyle Eckel. Eckel won a Super Bowl ring with the Saints in 2009, the highlight to a four-year career that has included stops in Miami, New England, and Philly.  In 2007, he appeared in 12 regular-season games and two postseason games for the Patriots, who finished 18-1, losing to the Giants in Super Bowl XLII.

He could still end up on the practice squad. The big 3 needed more reps. Or should I say your opening day starter of 2011, Tim Tebow, needs more reps.

Nice Dave, did you have your Marsh Jersey transformed yet? Make sure to watch your step when getting on that bandwagon. I want him to do well as a QB also but I think we could be pushing him into a tough spot. I hope I am wrong.

Pushing too hard? He’s in the NFL Drew. He may sit this year but he needs to be starting by 2011. Again he was a first round draft pick and you don’t draft someone that high to sit them on the bench with a clipboard. Again I bring up players like John Elway and Payton Manning who all started early in their careers and sure they took their lumps but it all worked out for them.

And no Drew I would have never had an overrated players jersey like BMARSH. I never got on that band wagon as many others did, but it is nice to see Eddie Royal in the slot now because we actually have a wide out who has wheels in Damaryus Thomas unlike the 50 million dollar bubble screen specialist. (I only say that because everyone points to that 20+ catch performance in Indi…. and well he is slow). I can tell you it is such a breath of fresh air to see what is going on at Dove Valley right now as apposed to last offseason.
