Off Season Scramble

All these big moves in the draft stirred the pot already now there are Orton Trade talks being fueled by the Denver Post and fan sites. I doubt Orton will be involved in any trades but I also guaranteed the Broncos wouldn’t select Tebow in the first round. I don’t understand McD at all and I will not pretend to for one second this year. Now there is buzz with Dumervil back in town to talk signing. Dumervil, who has not participated in any of the team’s voluntary workouts this offseason, has been offered a $3.168 million paycheck from the Denver Broncos if he signs his tender by June 15. The league’s sack leader in 2010, Dumervil has been seeking (and, frankly, earned) a long-term deal from the Broncos that would categorize him with some of the league’s most elite defenders financially. What will the Broncos do. We thought for sure our franchise players were safe in past seasons but again I have no clue what JMac does.

Drew Doom will be signed. JMAC and Bowlen have made it clear that they are working with Elvis’ represenatives on this. Elvis has also made it clear that he will be a Bronco for a long time. This deal is happening and he has earned it. Also I think if you can get anything for Kyle Orton take it…. The guy is a dead duck. Quinn will start the season with Tebow on his heels. Tebow starts by week 4.

I would be very happy to see Dumervil in Orange and Blue for a very long time. I have always said Orton is not the answer but the answer right now I think so. Orton was on track to a Pro Bowl year until the run game just vanished (despite the mini-offensive masterminds draft) Orton does not turn the ball over (what Denver Fans destroyed Cutler for) and has a winning track record. Or you trade Orton who can get the job done while you develop the future of your offense (like the old days, sorry Sanchez but Rookies sit the freaking bench) and put the leadership of your team on a combined winning record of 3 games with Quinn (former 1st round flop) Tebow (who no one will know if he can develop into a true NFL QB)and the strapping young QB McD loved so much last year at the draft in Brandstater.

Why not try to work a trade for Quinn and develop Tebow into a Vick type weapon for some fun exciting plays for the fans. Jacksonville has already been talking about their interest in Brady Quinn. Quinn couldn’t fight off Derrek Anderson for a constant start on a loosing team, how is he going to do better than a guy who knows the system and doesn’t make a ton of mistakes?

Drew first and foremost Brady Quinn has never been in a good situation. He played in Cleveland…. Enough said. It’s true the Denver Broncos started 6-0 last year however, the offense left something to be desired. If you look back at the Broncos’ quick start look at the defensive rankings through week 6 and I think you’ll see why the Broncos were successful. Kyle Orton also won a lot of games in Chicago and I think we all remember how good that Urlacher (in his prime) defense was. I also think there is no doubt out of Denver that out of the 4 quarterbacks on at OTA’s Kyle Orton has the weakest arm and least athletic upside. Now it is true that Kyle Orton does not turn the ball over, but can you really see Kyle Orton winning a Super Bowl? After all winning the big one is the point.

I also think you have to say that you don’t draft a player (Tim Tebow) in the first round to run the Wild Cat. That would be enough to fire any coach. Pat Bowlen is not going to give a guy a 9 million dollar signing bonus for that. Tebow may start the season in some odd packages, but I think you have to realize that Tim Tebow (A first round pick) is the future of the franchise.

Jacksonville has also made an offer for Brady Quinn and the Broncos let them know he is not up for a trade. I think you trade Orton now when he has a little value. You then have Quinn start make him the new Matt Cassell and you trade him next season as he still has one year left on his deal. As I said Kyle is a dead duck and he knows it. Also he has been a good soldier and he should be rewarded with an opportunity elsewhere.

If you really think the answer to rebuilding a team to head for the Super Bowl I seriously doubt you draft a big name big ticket player from the draft, throw a bunch of money at him then push him into an offense he does not know and expect him to succeed. If this is your formula for success you end up with Ryan Leafs, Vince Young (nearly killed himself b/c of the pressure), Joey Harrington, Brady Quinn or JaMarcus Russell. These are all good athletes of whom were set up to fail in bad situations, I don’t see how thrusting Tebow in there can be a logical answer. I think he will be a great business move for the Broncos, he will sell Jersey’s and tickets, he will bring press and excitement to our team.

Elvis Dumervil put his coveted signature on a piece of paper. Not a contract extension that will pay him like a Powerball winner. Not his tender worth $3.168 million. “I didn’t have to, but at the end of the day, I’m going to be a Bronco in 2010.” -E.D.

Drew there is no logic in drafting a guy in the first round just to sell jerseys. A first round draft pick better be an impact player within 2 seasons especially if that first round selection is a quarterback. JMAC’s future is directly linked to Tim Tebow.

Lastly the players you named are fine (except Brady Quinn because he wasn’t thrust into anything in Cleveland… He held out and sat behind Derrek Anderson. Hence why he only has 12 starts in the league). There were also rookies like Peyton Manning who started his rookie year and only won 3 games and I think that worked out okay. Then there was that entire 1983 class including a guy named ‘Elway’ who handled the pressure of being a quarterback. And by the way Drew Elway beat out an incumbant named Steve DeBerg to take the starting job here in Denver. Many Denver fans then thought it was the wrong decision because Elway had been labled as a loser in college who never won a bowl game.

I am not claiming to know what kind of professional quarterback Tim Tebow will be like however, to compare his mental toughness, work ethic or his ability to handle pressure to Ryan Leaf, Joey Harrington, Jamarcus Russel, or Vince Young is an absolute joke. You can attack the kid’s throwing motion but his leadership and ability to handle pressure you cannot.

Only because the band was on the field.

He proved to be a winner later on. However, if you are blaming your lack of bowl wins on the band it’s not wonder he was labled as a loser in 1983.
