Another one we saw coming… sad day for football fans.

Scheffler working hard for the home team.
Broncos tight end Tony Scheffler and a seventh-round draft pick have been traded to the Detroit Lions in a three-team trade that sends the Philadelphia Eagles’ fifth-round draft choice to Denver and Detroit outside linebacker Ernie Sims, a former top 10 draft pick, to the Philadelphia Eagles. Tony played hard nose football and was great for blocking and short yard situations. I love the way he played the game and again another player Mc Douche failed to Utilize though I am glad to see him go, if you are going to break up a team, don’t hesitate to go all the way, get rid of all pro bowl players and their (roomie/#1 reciever) then get all your hard working players sacrificed for the promising draft, then draft players to positions you that are lower on your board and pass up huge picks, then hire your brother and fire 25 years of experience and anything that helped you go 6-0 only to watch every single coach get picked up by Miami, Washington or Huston the same day.
That Scheffler wound up in Detroit is a bit surprising considering the Lions last year used a first-round pick, and $9.4 million in financial guarantees, on tight end Brandon Pettigrew. Sims, who was traded to the Eagles Monday in a three-team deal that sent Broncos tight end Tony Scheffler to the Lions, told Philadelphia reporters that he was ready for a change in scenery.
Sims, 25, said he’d grown tired of the constant losing he suffered with the Lions. Sims was the ninth overall selection in the 2006 draft and played in 59 games (56 starts) for the Lions, totaling 505 tackles, 2.5 sacks, five forced fumbles and one interception. Last season, Sims played in 11 games (eight starts), and had 49 tackles and one forced fumble — the worst totals in four NFL seasons.
Now that JMac has gotten rid of more Broncos and brought in more draft numbers maybe we can finally get a big player who can catch and block from Stanford in the draft, although I agree Dave we love guys from Stanford who wear Number 7 is dropping Hillis and Scheffler for draft picks to acquire a hard working blocking tail back with hands the answer?

Denver Broncos tight end Tony Scheffler (88) loses the ball after crossing the goal line for a touchdown as Houston Texans linebacker DeMeco Ryans (59) hits him during the third quarter of a football game Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007 in Houston. The play was ruled a touchdown before Scheffler fumbled the ball.

Drew there is no telling if the Broncos will pick Toby G. However, I think JMAC has made the Denver Broncos his project and I believe his whole career hinges on this draft. If the guys he drafts this year don’t pan out in the next 2 years then JMAC will lose his job. I think the answer is getting the middle of your offesive line together and then figuring out who is going to play quarterback for you a year from now. Sure Orton starts this year but he is definately gone after this year.

Obviously I also believe linebacker is an important position to look at in the very near future….. And now a number 1 wide receiver wouldn’t be bad.

You know, I kinda question whether or not Orton will be gone next year. With the struggles that Quinn endured at Cleveland I often wonder if he will bounce back in this new hostile environment that McDaniels has created. I would wager that if Denver struggles (depending on the degree) we will see Orton in the drivers seat more than Quinn. I digress however, that it won’t really matter who drives, since there is a lack of talent (save for Royal) to catch balls in the back field.

Nathan, next year as in this upcoming season? Orton will start believe that. I don’t think Orton is the QB of the future and bringing Quinn is an interesting twist but he won’t challenge Orton for the starting position. Not yet. Royal will have a tough year if he is forced into the #1 receiver spot, just look at how his numbers dropped last year with the inconsistent play of Marshall and the rest of the squad.
