Alright more depth to our back up QB

Brady Quin- notice the blurry image of a preditor in the tall grass behind him.
Trade News around our camp. The Broncos acquired the former first-round draft pick from the Cleveland Browns for fullback Peyton Hillis, a 2011 sixth-round draft pick and a conditional pick in 2012. The teams announced the trade Sunday and said the deal is pending physicals.
Ostensibly, Quinn will compete with Kyle Orton for the Broncos’ starting job, Quinn’s departure comes one day after the Browns agreed to terms with free agent Jake Delhomme on a two-year contract. Quinn went 3-9 in 12 starts for Cleveland, which drafted him with the 22nd pick in the first round in 2007 out of Notre Dame. Brady Quinn could not keep his starting job in Cleveland of all places loosing it multiple times because of mistakes and injuries to back up Derek Anderson. So far he has not lived up to his draft potential.

Kyle

Brady
You all know how I love Peyton Hillis and I will be very sad to see him go. I think he could have done more in our system with the right coach and offensive mind-set. This is a low-risk venture with big pay-out potential. Worst case scenario Quinn has a good camp and competes for the starting position and rattles Orton, thus creating more quarterback controversy in Denver. Best case scenario he finds his spot as number two and we develop him as a young talented former number 1 pick. He makes a lot of mistakes and bad decisions on the field. I think it could be extremely beneficial for him to learn from a guy like Orton who is known for not taking big risks and turning the ball over. Then barring injury or time Quinn steps in and reaches his potential. I am not worrying about it much right now I just hope they use him in the second scenario and don’t try to rattle the already shaky ruins of this rebuilding Broncos team.

Hillis traveling circus
Best of Luck Peyton Hillis and the best traveling fan club in the NFL, you will be greatly missed by this blogger, so am I still c0ming to Thanksgiving?

It’s sad to see Hillis go as he was a good player in 2008 but he was in JMAC’s ‘doghouse’ so they got rid of him Like you said Drew this move was a low risk move that makes all the sense in the world I will tell you I think Kyle Orton will be our quarterback next year…. Not because he’s better but because Brady Quinn has a provision in his contract that says if he takes 70% of the snaps this year he is due 7 million dollars. Something tells me that even if he takes the starting position he only takes about 68% of the snaps

Adding Quinn and dropping Simms is a nice upgrade. Hillis is talented but we really weren’t making good use of him. I’m happy with the trade but don’t see it as a huge game changer.

Yeah I like it overall, I was wondering what kind of off season moves we would make with so many big name/talent free agents out there.I worry about JMaC and the Draft, I feel like he get’s ahead of himself and locks on strange players. Any hopefull pick-ups. We should all do a mock draft as we get closer.

Drew I am hoping that Rolondo McClain is still sitting there at 12… I mean I don’t mind the trade for Brady Quinn… I didn’t even mind that Mike Nolan left. However, cutting Andre Davis??? Who is going to play middle linebacker for us? I hope he has thought that far ahead because a talented D-Line is nothing without a stud middle linebacker.

I like it Dave and agree it is a problem area that needs to be addressed. I am very nervous about wonder boy-geniuses draft line up.

Drew I agree with you on the draft day… I am concerned about these rumors about Dez Bryant. We have too many other holes on our team to use a first round draft pick on a wide receiver. I would rather see them draft Rolondo or Dan Williams from Tennessee to add some depth to the ‘new-look’ defensive line…. D-Line is the deepest position in the draft this year.

Yeah I don’t ever feel like I have an idea of where JMaC’s head is at on selection. Guess time will tell….
Still looks like Seattle for Marshall so far but not sure they want to give up pick. But now with Pete Carrol in and Mora out it is likely.

Drew I just hope they don’t give up BMARSH for too little. I would actually prefer a 1st round pick in 2011…. That way if Brady Quinn is not the future you can use those 2 picks to get Mallet or Locker next year.
