Shades of Tomlin

Over the last three weeks, there have been countless articles about Josh McDaniels, trying to explain to Bronco Nation who this young 32 year old is and why he is our new coach.  However, one of the consistent themes throughout these articles is comparisons to Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin. The Steelers head coach is currently speeding his week in Tampa Bay preparing for Super Bowl XLIII.  Tomlin has accomlished all of this in just his second year with Pittsburgh.

So how does McDaniels compare to Tomlin?  Both are very young coaches who have been praised for their creativity and knowledge of the game.  Both coaches are emotional and excitable and like to pump their players up, which is the complete opposite to a number of dead fish we have come to know and love… Norv Turner, Tom Coughlin, or Wade Phillips.  Finally, both coaches are said to be uber competitive and relentless workers.  Though, many other head coaches have this quality, Tomlin and McDaniels work ethic has lead to their meteoric rise as coaches.

As most Broncos fans sit on the eve of the Super Bowl wondering what the future holds for their beloved Orange and Blue, there is hope for this new young coach of ours.  If McDaniels has any shades of Tomlin, Broncos fans should be excited about playing in February here in the near future!!!
